Lakeside Amenities - As many of our regular guests know, we were planning on doing renovations to the lakeside amenities blocks over the winter. After much discussion and detailed costings on the project, we have instead decided to build two brand new amenities blocks. Features will include an extra male and female shower in each block, as well as new continuous hot water systems and energy efficient lighting and insulation. Below are some impressions of what they will look like. Unfortunately, the change in plans means they won't be ready for this summer, but the plans will be submitted for approvals shortly and they will be installed in winter 2019. We appreciate your patience with these upgrades. The goals is to have the best facilities for our guests for years to come, rather than a quick fix.
Hillside Amenities – We have also decided to double the size of the toilet block in the cabin precinct, adding three showers in each side plus a family bathroom. We are currently in the design stages with the intent to complete the job in winter 2019. This will mean more shower capacity for the park overall, and a shorter walk for guests in the cabins and surrounding sites. At the same time we will do some minor upgrades to the existing hillside showers.
Roadworks - Extensive widening and drainage works have been completed on the main road up the middle of the hillside (Motutere Mile). This should mean less potholes and better run-off when we get wet weather.
Street Lighting – We have installed solar street lighting along the roadway, from the boat ramp north along the lakeside. The lights make it safer to walk from your site to the amenities at night, but they auto-dim when nobody is around so they won’t disturb the night-time ambience.
Wi-Fi – We have invested significant money in upgrading our incoming internet link. This has increased our internet capacity 20 times! This means the speed for each guest is substantially increased, as well as allowing more guests to use the service at the same time. We are currently making some other upgrades to the internal Wi-Fi network to improve performance so you should see a noticeable difference from last year.
Accommodation – We have upgraded the old electric hot water systems to gas califonts in our self-contained units. This means no more running out of hot water when the whole family jumps in the shower after a day on the lake! We have also replaced mattresses across the accommodation range ensuring a great night’s sleep.
Kayak Hire – We now offer kayak and SUP hire from the park. Check out the website or chat to the team at the office for prices and availability.
Powered Sites – We have continued to power up, and add water taps, to more of the lakefront sites. We have also upgraded a number of older power heads on the hillside to new RCD protected units.
Recycling – We have added an extra recycling station on the lakeside to shorten the walk for guests at the northern end.

An update to all our loyal guests during these surreal and uncertain times. As we navigate this situation, we continue to keep the safety and wellbeing of our customers and team members at the forefront of our thinking. We want to let you know more about what we are doing in our park in response to COVID-19.
Now that we are at Alert Level 4, we are closed to leisure guests and are only accommodating our permanent residents and some essential travellers for the lockdown period. These travellers are staying under the following conditions:
- Guests are staying in self-contained campervans or caravans, or our self-contained units only
- Communal facilities and shared areas of the park are closed
- A minimum night stay of 28 days applies, to ensure that all guests follow through with the government’s 4-week lockdown requirements, unless proof of an outbound flight can be presented to staff
- Our reception, maintenance and cleaning service will be at reduced capacity and/or operated remotely as circumstances in the park dictate
- We are having to limit, restrict or cease face-to-face interaction, but will do our best to deliver our usual high quality of customer service while adopting safe social distancing practices
