Welcome to Motutere Bay Holiday Park

We aim to provide you with the best facilities and a peaceful park in which to relax and enjoy your holiday amongst the best of New Zealand’s scenery. Our park is suitable for all types of holiday makers including families, couples, groups and solo travellers. The area is renowned for its unspoiled beauty and historical significance.

PARK INFORMATION

We seek your cooperation with the following policies. They are to ensure your stay and the stay of all other guests is as enjoyable as possible.

ACCOUNTS:

Balance of accounts are payable on arrival. Payment is required for the full time booked.

AFTER HOURS BELL:

This is located outside the front door of reception and is to be used for late arrivals and urgent after hours enquiries. You may also call our park mobile phone if you prefer on 02 7511 4023.

ALCOHOL:

The consumption of alcohol within the park is restricted to your unit or site. Please do not walk around the premises with open alcoholic beverages.

BOAT RAMP:

A ramp permit is needed to use the ramp facilities, permits are available at reception.

CHECK - IN:

After 2pm for all units and cabins. After 11am for powered and unpowered sites.

CHECK - OUT:

Before 10am on the day of your departure. An extended stay can often be arranged - just come and see us at reception before 10am to check availability.

CONDUCT:

To ensure all our guests have a great holiday, please use consideration at all times throughout your stay. Excessive noise or aggressive behaviour will not be tolerated.

DUMP STATION:

Waste from portable toilets must be disposed of in one of two dump stations provided (see map for locations).

EMERGENCIES:

For emergencies please dial 111.

FIRES:

Unfortunately, no fires are allowed. This includes fireworks. Gas BBQs are permitted.

FISHING:

A Taupo Fishery fishing licence is necessary to fish in Lake Taupo and surrounding rivers and lakes. Licenses are able to be purchased online at www.doc.govt.nz.

FOOD:

Food stored in communal kitchen is at your own risk. Please ensure all items are clearly marked with your name and departure date. The fridges will be cleared weekly and anything unmarked will be discarded.

GAS BBQ:

Located next to the camp kitchens on both hillside and lakeside, please refer to map.

KAYAK & SUP HIRE:

At Motutere Bay Top 10 Holiday Park we provide single kayaks, double kayaks and Stand up Paddle Boards (SUP) for hire. We are flexible with times depending on availability.

KIOSK:

The following basics can be purchased from Reception's kiosk during reception operating hours:
  • Drinks and snack foods
  • Ice
  • Gas
  • Milk & bread
  • Newspapers
  • Pantry basics
  • Fishing equipment & woodchip

LAUNDRY:

Washing machines and dryers are coin operated. See park map for location. Instructions for use are in the laundry.

MESSAGES:

Messages will be taken at reception and delivered to guests whenever possible.

NOISE:

Please be considerate of noise levels whilst staying within our park. Noise travels quite easily, so please keep this in mind and restrict noise between 10.30pm and 7am, when other guests may be sleeping.

PARKING:

There is one vehicle permitted per site. Please do not block access ways for others. Alternative car/boat parking is available on request.

PETS:

Sorry, pets are not permitted anywhere within the park. Please speak to our staff if you need a recommendation for local pet motels.

PLAYGROUND:

Children under 12 must be supervised at all times to ensure their safety. Playground hours are 7:30am to 9pm.

POWERED SITES:

Caravans and Campervans must have a current electrical warrant of fitness and comply with LPG standards. If tenting, you must have connected a Residual Current Device (RCD). These are available for hire at reception if needed. Waste from portable toilets must be disposed of in one of the two dump stations provided (see map for locations).

RECYCLING:

There are two recycling stations located in the park. Please refer to map.

RUBBISH:

Please recycle! For general waste, please assist us with wrapping items in plastic bags and placing them in the bins provided throughout the park.

RECEPTION:

SUMMER HOURS: 8.00am - 8.00pm
WINTER HOURS: 8.30am - 6.00 pm

SAFETY:

Please drive at walking pace throughout our park (under 8km/hr). All roads within the park are shared zones, so please be aware of pedestrians.

SCOOTERS, SKATEBOARDS & BICYCLES:

The use of this equipment is allowed during daylight hours only and is limited to the flat areas of the park. Please keep your children from using skateboards & scooters on elevated areas as this can be quite dangerous. Please do not ride near the communal facilities. Helmets must be worn at all times and children under 12 must be supervised.

SHOWERS:

Water at Motutere is a precious resource so in order to conserve it, our showers are operated by a push-button timer (6 minutes per shower). Please be considerate of other guests and the environment by limiting your shower time.

SITE GUIDELINES

A campsite may be occupied by a maximum of eight guests. Campsites vary in size, there is no guarantee that tents, vans or vehicles will fit onto any site. It is the guest's responsibility to ensure the selection of campsite will fully contain all of their equipment, including vehicles, and boats within boundaries. Site measurements can be requested. All property belonging to you and your guests must be kept within the campsite boundaries. Access ways and roadways must be kept clear at all times, vehicles must be fully contained within the site boundaries. Where additional parking is required (including for boats and trailers) storage bays and additional parking is available on the hillside. The erection of large gazebo's for group stays will need to be approved by the manager prior to your arrival.

SWIMMING:

You can swim off the shore. If staying on the hillside, easiest access to the shore is close to the jetty/ramp.

SMOKING:

Prohibited in all park-owned buildings, including all park accommodation, amenities blocks and camp kitchen. Smoking is also prohibited around playground/recreation areas.

TELEPHONE:

A public phone is located in front of the Deluxe Family Cabins - adjacent to the park entry.

TOURS & LOCAL INFORMATION:

Tour information and booking available at reception. Tongariro crossing shuttle is available to and from the park.

VISITORS:

For health and safety reasons, please ensure your visitors report to reception on arrival. Any visitors staying overnight are required to pay additional person fees. Any vehicles must be parked in the visitor’s car park provided.

Wi-Fi:

Free Wi-Fi is available within the park, each guest receives 250MB free per day, per device. Extra data available for a small fee. Please ask our reception staff for more information

COVID-19 Level 4 Alert Park Status:

Currently in lockdown

An update to all our loyal guests during these surreal and uncertain times. As we navigate this situation, we continue to keep the safety and wellbeing of our customers and team members at the forefront of our thinking. We want to let you know more about what we are doing in our park in response to COVID-19.

Now that we are at Alert Level 4, we are closed to leisure guests and are only accommodating our permanent residents and some essential travellers for the lockdown period. These travellers are staying under the following conditions:

- Guests are staying in self-contained campervans or caravans, or our self-contained units only
- Communal facilities and shared areas of the park are closed
- A minimum night stay of 28 days applies, to ensure that all guests follow through with the government’s 4-week lockdown requirements, unless proof of an outbound flight can be presented to staff
- Our reception, maintenance and cleaning service will be at reduced capacity and/or operated remotely as circumstances in the park dictate
- We are having to limit, restrict or cease face-to-face interaction, but will do our best to deliver our usual high quality of customer service while adopting safe social distancing practices
